Undertone - Alive (Distrokid)

Alive was created around the vocals which form the nucleus of the track. Several layers of vocals in different octaves make up the drop as well as the pre-chorus. The drop builds up from one to three layers each time Simone belts out “I'm Alive”. The vocals also drive the melody instead of the instruments. This was done to bring the vocals forward as the star of the show.

Streaming and on release now for your consideration on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes Store, Amazon Music, Beatport and Juno Download

Undertone - Alive - 9A - 130 Future House

The idea for the 130BPM dramatic drop came from a track by September called Every Time We Touch which was a hit back in 2006. The track also features a lot of small individual percussion instruments since there is a lot of space within the track to work with. The many snare and kick hits have lots of reverb to create an atmospheric effect within the track to make the listener think the track is played in a large outdoor environment.

The lyric video also plays with above mentioned elements with slow verse movements imagery which changes to fast imagery in the drop. Track percussion is highlighted in the video with effects and hat images.

Undertone's mascot also makes a presence as within all Undertone videos. Someone shut him down please. Never mind, he can't hear you due to selective hearing. He'll be back in the next track, and the next...
