Featuring several Bay Area hip-hop artists from prestigious groups Grand Nationxl and MacArthur Maze, ‘KL X BASTA’ combines Kate’s signature jazz-pop soul vocals with driving beats. Emanating a classic hip-hop production sound, the record showcases Kate’s impressive vocal ability and determination to continue to push the boundaries of genre norms.
No stranger to the hip-hop genre, the vocal record sees Kate take on a new direction as the central artist, enlisting a stellar line up of MC’s to feature on several tracks. Highlighting the exceptional talent currently on the SF Bay Area scene, DJ BASTA brings the record to life with his masterful production to deliver an innovative and diverse body of work.

Soulful, sleek and simply sensational, Kate Lamont is a multi-genre artist carving her own path. Creating an irresistible melting pot of jazz, pop, soul and R&B, Kate’s signature sound has seen her share the stage with artists like Kim Taylor, Bruce Cockburn, Jane Handcock and members of the Brian Wilson Band.
Beginning her music journey at just 4 years old, Kate has an incredibly successful career to date. From starting out performing in church choirs and mastering the Suzuki Method on piano, to experimenting writing her own original compositions and joining her first band all before she turned 20, Kate is an artist born to share her voice and experiences through music.
Diving in and out of a plethora of genres, Kate has released four studio albums to date with a progressive folk and rock band, three albums with a trip-hop group, and several solo records. Taking influence from a diverse array of artists from Nina Simone to Prince and Erykah Badu, Kate’s ability to enrapture audiences with her desire to promote human connection has garnered the attention of fans across the globe.
